GO- Gloucester

Hello,

If you are coming, please let me know. So far, we have Jane, Bill, Ed and Darlene.  I put another route in the club rides. It is called Cape Ann 2016 Core Loop.  Darlene will be our Fearless Leader today.  She will let us know which route to load into our phones when we get there.  Temperatures will be in the high 60s to low 70s with sunny skies and low winds. Another perfect cycling day in New England.

Actually, parking might be free - and bathrooms might be closed, I'll confirm later.  Gloucester's website doesn't mention seasonal or year round parking fees.

We are going to have company.  CRW is also starting a ride at Stage Fort at 10:00.
They ride faster and stop less so we won't see them except at the start.  They are having lunch at the Willow Rest in Gloucester.
I might borrow their ride or modify ours to include a few of their extra detours.

RidewithGPS Files:

Directions to 10:00 am, 31 mile start from Stage Fort Park, Gloucester:  Take Rtes I-95/128 north and keep left on Rte 128 where I-95 and 128 split.  Continue on Rte 128 north to Exit 14 (Rte 133).  Take a right from the exit ramp towards Gloucester.  Continue approximately 3 miles to Rtes 133/127 intersection (water will be in front of you).  Turn right onto Rte 127 and proceed about one hundred yards.  Turn left, up the hill, onto Hough Road.  Parking is at the top of the hill, on the right.  Since it is off-season, parking is free.  Note, however, that the restrooms will be closed - plan accordingly or use the woods prior to the ride start.  Porta Potties may be available down the hill near the snack bar.

Distance/driving time from the intersection of the Mass Pike and Rtes I-95/128 is about 45 miles/50 minutes.  Traffic is typically light going north from that intersection, being heaviest in the opposite direction.  There are days when traffic is slower than typical, so do allow sufficient time.

It's the Blue Lobster Grille here:

Darlene, are you sure the parking is $10 yet?  I don't remember ever paying there before (been there 3 times)…

I was going to suggest Rockport.  It's at mile 18.
I don't remember the restaurant, hoping one of you does.

I wonder if we can park at Oval Playground, on the way to Fort stage park. I'll call Gloucester tomorrow and ask.

I hate paying $10 when we don't spend much time in the park.

Got the mail. Will be coming to Gloucester. Last time in Rockport, we ate at the nice restaurant that let us bring our bikes in…

See you tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

It will be hard to top last week's rides, with perfect weather, incredible views and adorable animals, but we'll try.  This week's temperatures will be in the 70s and 80s, with only Friday looking a bit iffy. We will take advantage of the weather and head to Gloucester on Wednesday, with an expected temperature of 73! Darlene will  be our guest Fearless Leader and will supply more details shortly.  PLEASE RSVP for WEDNESDAY'S RIDE.  We can try to arrange carpools and will know if someone is running late.

If you signed up for one ride a week, and had to miss some, feel free to make them up whenever your schedule allows.  The only things I'm fussy about are helmets and waivers.

It's also time to start thinking about our end of season party. Typically, we do a slightly longer ride near our host's home in the morning, and have a pot luck lunch afterwards.  The party will be on Friday the 13th!  Alum are always welcome.  We have great fun, great food and some gag gifts.  If you would like to host, please let me know.
